5 MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY LAW STUDENTS

1)Many students normally have a fear that since they are 1st generation law students their journey would be more difficult than a student whose parents are lawyers. What is your take on it and what would you say to them?

ASHISH BHAKTA “The one thing students have to realize that all the second-generation lawyers did have a first-generation lawyer. Believe in yourself rather than having such notions. They are spread by organizations who want to exploit the very insecurity in such students. Especially the so-called online experts in career counseling.”

2)In-Law school there is a perception that the more the number of internships the better. Is it true? And many students feel that most of their friends get internships because of contacts and not merit due to which the students who truly deserve miss out. What would you say to them?

ASHISH BHAKTA- “It’s not the number, it’s the quality that makes the difference. By quality, I mean how much you got to learn rather than what kind of work you did. Merits always count.

What you mean by ‘deserve’ is a relative term. Many a time such ‘references’ work as the students are more diligent and perform way better than the ones who have come on their merit as they have a face to keep.

I would not get into such debates of who deserves what. More so as for a student even if he/she works with a clerk in a court it is learning. So do not think of ‘good work and ‘bad’ work. Just do what’s assigned with all your heart and mind. It will benefit you in many ways”.

3)During 12th standard, students come under this enormous pressure to crack entrance tests to get into top-tier law schools of the country but as we all know that due to limited seats everyone cannot get into it. What would you say to students who couldn’t make their way to the top law schools?

ASHISH BHAKTA- “Law colleges matter to an extent. Believe in yourself. There can be no substitute for hard work. Not even the highest-rated college. Many a time missing out on a top college can be a boon in disguise. Please keep your head down and work no matter which college you from. It doesn’t matter in the long run.”

4)When you enter into law school there is a perception that you need to do moots and win moot competitions so that you can be a good lawyer in the future. Is it true? What would you tell the students regarding this, especially to students who haven’t or don’t want to participate in moots?

ASHISH BHAKTA- “The real moots will be when you argue before judicial authorities. There is a whole new world there. There is no ‘case’ based on which you argue. You have to make your own case. Many a time, students who have been top mooters are so used to such ‘base’ to work that they take a while to adjust to the real world.

Mooting is a great way to gain experience and get a feel of things. Yet if you haven’t, don’t worry”.

5)Nowadays there are enormous online courses present on the internet which are being sold. It is high time that Law schools should start analyzing their syllabus/course structure so that students who are already paying law school fees, no more need to buy these online courses. What do you think? What would be your suggestions to Law schools?

ASHISH BHAKTA- “Online courses (most of them) are a scam. They tend to take advantage of a student’s insecurity which is a natural feeling for anyone wanting to make his/her mark in the real world. Law colleges have to allow students to get more practical experiences. Especially by attending more internships that are longer than one month at a time. It is only then that the students will be ready to forge in the real world. “

Important things you should look before deciding which college you want to go to

So I will tell you what are some important things you should look before deciding which college you want to go to. So let’s begin:-

1) FACULTY – I think it must be the first thing you should see of a college before joining it as I feel its the most important criterion. Why?

Because it is a teacher that will play a very important role in making you hate or love the subject. For example, if you have been taught science by a not so passionate teacher then there is a high chance that you will hate the subject because the teachers are the ones who will introduce the subject to you and teach about it and we know that the first impression is the last impression so when your teacher doesn’t teach properly then you will have a bad impression about the subject. So we can conclude that, if not taught properly then you will not understand the subject, you will be confused, you will start thinking that you don’t like the subject as it’s not interesting which is actually not true, it’s just that the teacher wasn’t able to teach properly or couldn’t create interest in you or couldn’t make you understand. So it is very important for a teacher to create interest in the subject among the students. ( although I would agree to the fact that all students are different not all will be able to understand but I think at least the majority of the students should understand )

And I feel only a teacher who is passionate about teaching, a teacher who has good command over the subject can do it.

So understand the importance of a good teacher. I myself know few students who initially hated few subjects because they didn’t understand the subject or didn’t feel interested initially but later on when they watched few youtube videos of some good teachers they immediately felt interested and they realized that how wrong their perception was about the subject.

So whenever you join a college make sure that the college has a good faculty.

“‘Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.”

2) Infrastructure and Facilities – I feel this is the second most important thing you should look for when you are deciding about a college. You should see whether the college you are going to join has the facilities that are necessary and required to you for the next 4-5 years to easily stay in the college. Because when you join a college your goal is to acquire a good education and you can acquire a good education when there is no distraction and when there is a good and comfortable environment around you.

If there are problems of plenty around you then how can you focus on your studies?

For example- if I give you a huge bungalow to stay with 5-6 bedrooms where each family member can have his own room and also another room as a complimentary gift(special offer buy one and get one free). But if I say there are problems like there is a bad water supply, if there are no fans, if there are no shops around you and all are very very far.

So, will you still live in this bungalow? No, right?

That’s why it becomes important that there are proper facilities in the college you want to join.

3) Crowd( student of that college)- I think this is very subjective and you should not decide a college wholly on the basis of the crowd because let’s accept the fact that there are bad people everywhere. There are students in almost all colleges where they consume alcohol, drugs, etc which is a reality of today. We cannot do much in that. It’s totally responsible of a student to make sure that they are away from such bad people. Students should not be friends with such people because it can influence you very badly which can destroy your career.

Because the people with whom you spend your time most with, will shape you. So make sure you are mingling with the right people around you. If you have already did friendship with a bad person immediately go away from him because your parents have sent you to college to make you better human beings of tomorrow not bad human beings.

So i think these 3 are the most important factors that a student should see before seeing other factors like placements, fees and etc. Do comment and tell me whether you agree or not. Do let me know your thoughts on it. And do tell me if you think I missed something important. But if you like my article make sure you like, share, and comment.

Things you need to know before you start writing

Before reading ahead I want you to know the reason I am writing this. It has happened with me lot of times that I write an article or story with lots of efforts but nobody recognises it or nobody appreciates it.

Sometimes it happens that somewhere we read a quote which we felt very heart touching so we shared with others but others didn’t feel the same. So we should not bother much about it and rather we should keep writing.

Because , understand that-

No quotes or content is bad. It’s just that if you are in that situation then you will be able to relate to it and you will feel inspired.

But if you aren’t in that situation you may not find that quote relevant.

Every quote has a deep meaning it’s just that you need to understand the context of what the author wants to convey

It has happened many times with me that some quotes are just so heart touching so I share with people but not everyone shows the same feeling

Because either they are not being able to relate to it or they haven’t been in that same situation to understand.

So, don’t feel bad if you write or share content that you feel is great and inspiring but not necessarily everybody will feel the same

It’s all about the correct timing

Sooner or later when they will go through the same situation then they will understand what you wanted to say

You should be proud of yourself that you are sharing things that inspired you, so that others get inspired too. It shows that you are a good human and you want good for others

Good work never gets unnoticed Just keep writing and sharing good content today or tomorrow people will be able to relate to it

What matters is the intention behind your writing
